Glock 43x Gen 5 Review - The Glock 43 was a significant change in the Glock product line when it was released. With a single-stack magazine instead of Glock's usual double-stack, the 43 aimed to be more concealable than Glock's previous subcompacts, such as the Glock 26. Full-size models to accommodate the same magazines as larger Glock models.
But the switch to single stack meant Glock had to make an entirely new frame and slide, a significant investment for a single pistol. With the Glock 43X, Glock appears to be building an entire family of single-barreled pistols based on the Glock 43.

Like Glock's other "crossover" models (denoted by X), the Glock 43X has a longer grip compared to slide length. This was first tested with the Glock 19X, which paired a full-length Glock 17 grip with a shorter Glock 19 frame and dust cover. Since it was not a "full-size" single-stock Glock when the 43X was manufactured, the Glock 43X only has a longer grip intended to accommodate a full-hand grip, compared to the original Glock 43 which had a short grip that could require a magazine extension for the middle finger.

Interestingly, in its initial release, the 43X featured only a PVD-coated stainless steel slide, breaking from Glock's tradition of using a black tanifer or nDLC coating on its slide. Glock's decision to do this is uncertain, however, the 43X is a fairly atypical model that already exists in their product line as a crossover, so the stainless slide is probably another aspect meant to make it even more distinctive. However, the all black 43x was released in July, so the first stainless 43x slide release may have been a marketing move.
The 43X is just another watch. Released in 2019, it is a fifth generation Glock and therefore benefits from the improved trigger and barrel characteristic of the fifth generation. Most reviewers seem to appreciate the improved shootability the longer crossover grip provides, along with the increased ten-round magazine capacity.
However, the Glock 43X may face stiff competition in the subcompact market from other recently released subcompacts. Sig Sauer, Inc. Has the P365 line with a thirteen round capacity. Springfield Armory's Hellcat also competes in the subcompact market and features optical sights as standard on all pistols. The P365 has optical cutouts as an optional upgrade on the P365XL model.
Glock has its own optics-ready models with the MOS system, but the only MOS Glocks are dual-stack models, as the MOS optic cut is only designed for wide slides. While some third-party manufacturers already offer paint Glock 43 sights for optics, Glock has yet to produce factory optics for the Glock 43 or any of its derivatives, which could hurt its competitiveness against competing models.
The Glock 43x: Perfect Efficiency
But with its extended grip, proven Glock functionality, and slim profile, the Glock 43X remains one of the best choices for those looking for a concealed carry pistol on the current market. Glocks are some of the most popular handguns in the world for a reason: they just work.
Charlie Guo studied political science and computer science at Grinnell College and is a frequent commentator on defense and national security issues. The Glock 43X is the opposite of Glock pistols. Glock took the hugely successful Glock 43 pistol and stretched the grip to accommodate a new 10-round magazine. The Glock 43X became a very popular concealed carry pistol and opened up a new market for Glock slimline pistols. We will explore the various features in this Glock 43x MOS review.
The Glock 43X recently received a welcome addition in the form of a MOS model. The new Glock 43X MOS is on the shelves now and is likely to be a big hit.
MOS stands for Modular Optics System. The gun bears the name gauge, but the gauge system on the guns is very different from the standard gauge system.

The Glock 43X is an excellent small handgun, so it cannot accept larger red dots. This measuring system is cut for the red dot of the shield RMSc gun.
This is one of the smallest pistol red dots on the market, and the optic's footprint is quickly becoming popular.
This opens up the Shield RMSc, SIG ROMEO Zero, SwampFox Sentinel and Holosun 507k, and some newer models hitting the market hard and fast.
This isn't the only change Glock made to the 43X series pistol, so let's dive in and check out the Glock 43X MOS and how Glock made a micro combat pistol a little more capable.

Although these new small optics have yet to be shown, they are becoming increasingly popular. Especially when you pair it with a great Glock 43X MOS holster.
One major change that Glock made to the Glock 43X MOS was to change the color of the slide from stainless steel to a traditional black nDLC finish. The guns came out in a black finish before the MOS series, but the MOS series will be nDLC exclusive.
The diamond-like coating is extremely strong and proven durable on the vast majority of Glock pistols. The hardness level is extreme, and it doubles that of the older tenifer finish.
I can't lie, I like the stainless steel coating, and I think it makes the plain Jane, Spartan Glocks stand out a bit, but I understand the change.

Stainless looks good, but the black is less reflective and will cause fewer reflections on the lens of your red dot optic. The black finish gives the gun a more discreet look and makes it disappear a little better under a cover of clothing.
The frame is the traditional Glock black polymer frame. It's a bit blocky and plain, but looks professional and is cast precisely. The bezel is not pretty but is a perfect fit and well made.
The look of the Glock 43X calls for a black optic to keep the black on black theme going. Fortunately, black is the most common color in the tactical optics world. It will also match your shoes.
The Glock 43X MOS is an amazingly thin and light pistol designed with concealed carry in mind. The G43X MOS has an ultra-short barrel, and this makes OWB possible and makes the 43X MOS easy to carry IWB and AIWB (attached inside the waistband).

The overall width is a slightly thick 1.10 inches, and the image is 0.87 inches wide. The gun weighs 23.07 ounces fully loaded. The gun isn't the thinnest option, but it's still exceptionally easy to conceal.
The gun is remarkably balanced, and those of us who want something small and easy to carry but still want a full grip will love the Glock G43X MOS.
Adding an optic will change the height and overall weight of the gun, but not significantly. The Modern Micro Red Dot is a super small and lightweight design that adds barely any bulk to your firearm. The G43X MOS is one of the smallest optics-enhanced pistols on the market.
The rifle comes with ten-round magazines, and it cannot take magazines made for the G43. This cuts out many extended magazines made for the G43. However, a company called Shield Arms makes a 15-round magazine that fits directly with the G43X MOS and Glock 48.
Comparing The Glock 43 Vs. 43x
This adds five rounds of flavor to your Glock series pistol. I have no personal experience with these magazines, so I can't speak to their reliability, but they seem loved by Glock 43X MOS and Glock 48 owners.
The Glock 43X MOS offers a much better grip than the original G43. The longer grip feels better in the hand and makes the gun easily fit into the 10 round single stack magazine. Another big improvement is the little beaver tail that provides some protection for my hand.
Me and Glocks sometimes don't get along as I am a victim of constant slide bite from the Glock series. The Glock G43X MOS is different and provides a nice little overhang that allows me to have a nice high grip and keep my hand off a bit.
The Glock 43X MOS is a very simple pistol. Glock has a reputation for making guns as simple as possible, and admittedly simple is good in a gun designed for combat. The 43X MOS has three safety devices, but not one is a manual safety.

The only thing close to this is the trigger safety, which will not allow the trigger to release without a full and purposeful pull. This keeps things pretty simple and allows a shooter to have a gun that they can engage with right away without much thought behind it.
The hand feel design of the G43X helps with bounce and control. The grip allows you to comfortably control and handle the gun.
It is much more comfortable for rapid fire practice and long days at the range than the standard 43. It is a must for a scoped rifle.
A proper grip ensures that you can hold the dot firmly and take advantage of all the benefits that a red dot has to offer.
